Faile on film

This is a great little documentary/interview with NY street artists Faile. I personally love the way they produce artwork. They are experimental and fun - this video is testament to that.

'Vice caught up with the Patricks (Faile) for an Art Talk about their new tile installation entitled The 104 North 7th Project in New York.'

You can check out for of Alex's line work HERE.

This skull was done specially for clothing company HERETICS. It took 2 weeks to draw it. Black ink and dip pen as always. 45x64cm paper.

1/6th Star Wars Arcade Game by Le Chuck

Some people are just too clever for my liking! This dude named 'Le Chuck' has gone and built the best thing since microwavable popcorn. Standing just under 12 inches tall, this miniture 1983 Star Wars arcade machine takes the crown for inventiveness. Have a watch of the video below to learn more about the making of this fine piece of engineering and to witness the game play in action.

Solo exhibition by Patricia Waller 'Broken Heros'

The knitted sculpture "Spiderman" by Patricia Waller, featuring the comic book character as an imprisoned victim of his own web.

The knitted sculpture "Hello Kitty," featuring the cartoon character as a harakiri ritual suicide victim.

Patricia Waller's Broken Heros show at Deschler Gallery (Berlin) is a bloody affair. All of her 'pop culture' sculptures are made from crocheted wool to offset the dark themes that they address. The show is on now and runs until 30th June. Here's the blurb:

'The figures populating Patricia Waller’s new series “Broken Heroes” are all well-known icons of pop culture, they are creatures of comics, cartoons, TV shows and similar products of our contemporary collective consciousness. And as is so often the case with Waller’s output, the works are funny and amusing at first glance, for they present these “heroes” in a manner not seen before: Ernie as a drunk bum with his yellow rubber ducky, Spiderman hopelessly entangled in his own net, and Sponge Bob as suicide bomber with enough explosives strapped around his body to lay a city block to waste. The comic effect is enhanced by the fact that these works are all crocheted. Our laughter, however, soon turns into discomfort on closer inspection—again a typical phenomenon in encountering Waller’s objects. Clumsy Spiderman might seem droll, but the sight of a raped and bleeding Minnie Mouse is no longer funny. The homeliness of the technique can disguise the underlying seriousness of the themes but for a brief moment.'

New custom figure by Huck Gee - "Copter Boy"

Hotaru Copter Squad - "Copter Boy"

'Long before there was the now legendary Hotaru Copter Squad there was simply "Copter Boy" who, with his sister's help, introduced a revolutionary and last minute innovation that turned out to be pivotal in the battle for Mount Shirokuri. The siblings, strapped into their magical, flying contraptions, rained fire down on the enemy, spreading fear and breaking ranks wherever they flew. The tale of Whiskers the Wizard's bumbling stablehands and their preposterous flying experiments turning the tide of that battle is an unbelievable yet jovial chapter in the history of The Three Wars,

Each figure is signed, numbered, includes shown accessories and comes padded and packaged in its own hand assembled and laser etched wooden box and then boxed within another shipping box. Due to the nature of the materials, some differences should be expected in each figure. 10 figures in this set, $875 per figure. Limit one figure per customer. This set will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone interested, please email sales@huckgee.com ASAP to reserve your figure and make payment arrangements.'
